1. Dr. Timothy Okon, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Coordinator, Corporate Strategy and Planning for July Q+A Session.
Our July Q+A Guest Speaker, Dr Tim Okon is Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Executive Director and Coordinator, Corporate Strategy and Planning.
He leads the Commercial group in NNPC in evaluating all significant and major projects in the JVs and PSCs and provides corporate commercial and investment advice to the GMD. He also develops long range strategic options (including funding, gas, fiscal system design and commercial framework for infrastructure and power) for the oil and gas industry.
Dr. Okon led the Inter-Agency Technical Review Team that produced the Government Memorandum on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and manages NNPC’s transformation program as Director of Transformation.
Prior to joining NNPC in June 2007, Dr Okon was General Manager Development Planning for Mobil Producing Nigeria, Lagos. He had a fulfilling 29 years in the organisation where he carried roles that took him to Indonesia, London and back to Nigeria, winning several performance awards as Geoscientist in Mobil Producing Nigeria.
Dr Okon has a BSc (Hons) in Geology/Geophysics from ABU Zaria University, and MSc, a PhD and DIC from Imperial College, London and an MBA from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Okon will be speaking on ‘The Nigerian Oil Sector beyond 2012: Strategies for Transformation’.
Our August Q+A Session Guest Speaker, Mr. Peter Johnson is Group Managing Director/CEO, Dorman Long Engineering Limited.
Dorman Long is Nigeria's champion for Local Content capability in the Oil and Gas Industry. Recently, Dorman Long completed the NNPC/Mobil Oyot wellhead platform, a remarkable feat in the Nigerian Oil Industry.
Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction and Project Management and has had over 30 years international experience of working in the Oil and Gas Industry where he had worked in Trinidad, Australia, Denmark, Malaysia, and Angola leading major projects.
His most recent assignment was Senior Team Leader ExxonMobil Producing Nigeria (MPN).
In his earlier career, Peter Johnson had served as Director of Construction/ Commissioning – Paragon Engineering Services, Construction/ Commissioning Manager – Deutag Drilling Inc., Senior Construction Manager – ABB Lumus, Director/General Manager & Divisional Construction Manager – Aker Oil & Gas UK, and Project Management Consultant – MacGreggor Energy Services.
In total he has over twenty five years International experience of working in the oil and gas industry gaining a wide range of knowledge and experience as a Project / Construction/Completions Manager in the fabrication, installation, hook-up and commissioning of onshore oil and gas facilities, offshore, production platforms, FPSO construction and completions, drilling rig upgrades and conversions in the UK and International locations.
Peter is very much a “hands on” practical manager with a strong structural engineering fabrication and piping background, Well versed in the development, management and implementation of the systems and processes required to facilitate and support upstream, major EPIC (Capex) projects, negotiation and implementation of significant downstream operations and maintenance (Opex) contracts.
Peter Johnson is speaking on the topic, ‘Drafting the new Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB): Perspectives and Impacts’.
