The study complements previous reports showing that compliance with clean air legislation increased the productivity of refining companies in the state. The findings support the conclusion that when the political interest of managers and stakeholders of California oil and gas companies converge, it encourages significantly higher voluntary CSR intensity. 

Leaders of Britain's nuclear, wind, and tidal industries have made an unprecedented joint appeal to government ministers not to abandon their commitment to combat climate change. The heads of organizations representing more than 1,000 nuclear and renewables companies have called on Prime Minister David Cameron, Ed Davey, Minister of the Department of Climate and Energy, and George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to agree on a legally binding decarbonization target for electricity generation.

Brussels calls for end to Energy Market distortion

Shell Technology Forums, 12 - 19 October 2012, Perth, Melbourne and Bris...

Shell Australia recently brought together global and local technical experts and engine manufacturers to participate in the third annual Shell Mining and Transport Technology Forums held in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The Shell Technology Forums provided customers the opportunity to have an open dialogue with Shell technical experts to discuss the challenges facing today's energy industry, and how to work together towards possible energy solutions.

Shell is working with partners and focusing on key areas including integrated natural gas, biofuels, carbon capture and storage and energy efficiency.

At the Shell Technology Forums, sessions were held on biodiesel and its implications, current and future Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technologies, developments in engine technology, fluid management best practice and using technologically advanced products to help improve operations.

Global Futurist and Thought Leader Dr Keith Suter was a guest speaker at the Forums, and said Shell has developed a technique called "scenario planning" to help think about the future of global energy demands.

Scenario planning is not what's currently being suggested or what you would like to see happen, but considers the possibilities of change that are out there that we're not seeing yet.

Tullow and Kenya's Oil Exploration

British explorer TULLOW oil has struck oil in yet another well at Lokichar in north west Kenya. The new find at twiga south-1 onshore Kenya block 13t becomes the second successful encounter with oil by the explorer and its partner Africa oil corporation. today's announcement came amid media speculation of the oil find with TULLOW confirming it had set its drilling results announcement for mid November.

AFRICAN RESOURCES FOR AFRICA: Mozambique Energy Resources in view

More than half the population of Mozambique's run down capita Maputo live in poverty, despite the country being one of the world's new energy hotspots. Huge reserves of natural gas have been discovered off the coast, part of an enormous block experts say is twice the size of Saudi Arabia's. Investors are already pouring in, a $1bn redevelopment of the waterfront is planned and there could be many more benefits if the government can keep up. But the government lacks infrastructure and skilled Mozambicans. At the moment the only existing gas plant is run by the South African company Sasol. Although the vast majority of the gas will be exported, some believe that Africa's resources should stay in Africa. Al Jazeera's Tania Page reports from Maputo.
