Energy Institute Evening Lecture: An Assessment of Nuclear Safety in the UK in a post Fukushima world

Energy Institute
An assessment of nuclear safety in the UK in a post Fukushima world evening lecture

Summary
Some people in the press and in public have referred to the events in Japan 12 months ago as a wake up call, others have called it a lesson we all must learn from. To the nuclear operators, it is more personal, more real perhaps, sobering to watch the three containment structures deflagrate. What next for an industry that views itself as a significant part of the solution to our energy needs (an industry that was in a renaissance) how do we persuade people that nuclear electricity is the right thing to do?

Speaker
Paul Stephens, Nuclear Safety Branch Manager, EDF Energy
